Call for Participation
The Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) group in the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (German Informatics Society) aims to advance scientific work in the field of Virtual and Augmented Reality and to support the exchange of information among scientists. The workshop, initiated by the GI-Group VR/AR 18 years ago, is an established platform for the exchange of information and ideas. Traditionally, interested parties from science and practice meet here once a year. The workshop offers the ideal framework to discuss current results and projects from research and development with an expert audience. Last but not least, the workshop is an ideal forum to establish and maintain contacts or to get an insight into current work on virtual and augmented reality in Germany.
One of the main goals of the GI-Group VR/AR is to give young scientists the opportunity to present their scientific work to an expert audience. This includes, among others, ongoing doctoral projects, but also outstanding student work from universities. After the workshop, the authors of the best articles will be invited to submit an extended version of the article to a special issue of the Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting (JVRB).
The GI VR/AR Workshop will take place this year from September 9 – 10, 2021 at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Sankt Augustin near Bonn. It will be co-located with ICAT-EGVE.

Accepted articles will be published in the digital library of the Gesellschaft für Informatik under the Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 license. Therefore, please check if you have the text and image rights to all materials used in your paper. Ask us in case of doubt. After successful acceptance of your paper, we will separately ask you to transfer to us the right to publish it in the digital library of the Gesellschaft für Informatik. You will retain the rights for further use. You can also find more information in the FAQ of the GI DL.
This year, graduates in Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are again invited to submit their theses in the topic area of VR/AR. The colloquium should have taken place in 2020 or 2021. The best papers will be selected and the authors will have the opportunity to present their work in a workshop. For this purpose, the title and abstract of the paper (max. 1 A4 page in PDF format) should be uploaded via the submission system.
All contributions should follow the format template of the VR/AR workshop. To submit your papers, please use the EasyChair online system. A link is provided on the website http://vrar2021.inf.h-bonn-rhein-sieg.de.
